You have not said where the equation came from. If you created it in MathType then the reason why it takes up so much space is obvious. The setting for 'Full Size' was probably NOT 12 but 40 or more. (NB Every Size apart from Other is specified as a percentage of Full Size. So every time you alter Full Size you automatically alter the rest of the bunch save one.) You could well have also made masses of surrounding empty space part of it. Edit an equation or expression Click the equation or expression. On the Equation Tools tab, under Math Symbols or under Structures, select the math symbols or structure that you want to add to the equation, or type or delete the variables and numbers in the equation. In which case you re-make it, Size Settings suitably altered etc. Regex editor for mac. AND also make sure that the FIRST and LAST character on every line of the equation/expression are the start and the end of that line - otherwise the empty space to the left and right are also part of it - so that it looks OK in MathType. Office 2016 Equation EditorYou also have to make sure that its first character - and not space is at the top - also making sure sure that the final line - and not space - is the actual end of what you intended. Then, to get it positioned OK in Pages, you can use Baseline Shift (in Inspector) so that it sits where you want it to sit relative to the line of text. While to move it along the line of text simply 'nudge' it along as you would if it were ordinary text. I am not not familiar with other Equation Editors.
